Cyber security is a key consideration for all businesses regardless of size or sector. Barely a week goes by without news of yet another online scam or fraud making headlines.
With cyber crime a significant and unfortunately growing threat, business owners and managers need to be prepared, and to miminise exposure to cyber threats. With this in mind, on Tuesday, October 3rd, Ennis Chamber will host a timely and informative event examining ‘Cyber Security Trends and Threats’.
Senior representatives of The Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau – the Garda unit tasked with investigations into cyber dependent crime, which include network intrusions, data interference, and attacks on websites belonging to Government departments, state institutions and corporate entities, will give an informative and up to date presentation
The Garda Cyber Crime Bureau is also responsible for the forensic examination of computer media seized during the course of any criminal investigations.
Representing The Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau will be Detective Sergeant Eoin O’Connell, who will be joined by Detective Sergeant Pat Morrissey the Cyber Crime Bureau’s Western Region supervisor, who is based in Galway.
The aim of their presentation is to raise awareness about threats and risks associated with Internet and telecom use, and where those threats and risks are coming from. Guidelines and tips will be provided on how to stay vigilant, and deal with these threats.
